Like sake, shochu has been a popular drink in Japan for many years. Shochu’s ingredients differ depending on the region where it is produced. Shochu is made from a variety of ingredients (fruit, raw sugar, grains or sweet potatoes) and each imports a distinctive flavor with subtle differences. Shochu can be enjoyed as an aperitif, as a compliment to a meal or as an after-dinner drink.

Among all shochu, single-distilled shochu has a fullness of flavor comparable to a high-quality wine and the very best spirits. A single-distilled shochu is neither too sweet nor too bitter, and it has no strong nose. Compared to multiple-distilled shochu, the single-distilled shochu’s quality taste is immediately recognizable.

Enjoy shochu straight, on the rocks or with a splash of hot water.
